With a background in the manufacture and distribution of consumer products I moved to Driffield for business reasons in 1997 with my wife, Maura. We immediately fell in love with the town and surrounding East Riding countryside and knew we had made the best choice for our new home. I was a member of the Driffield Rotary Club for 12 years assisting communities in times of need and Maura has been active for many years with the RNLI Driffield Guild and Action Medical Research which funds vital research into children’s diseases.
My business life has enabled me to travel widely, sourcing products mainly from factories in China and India and working with customers from around the world but particularly in the United States, Europe, Japan as well as the UK. Throughout this time I have been a committed activist for the Conservative Party and have held the positions of EYCCA Vice Chairman – Events 2006 to 2008, Association Chairman 2010 to 2013, North & East Yorkshire Area Chairman from 2014 to 2016 and Regional Chairman for Yorkshire & the Humber from 2016 until March 2020. In addition I have served on the Senior Volunteers Forum and am currently the EYCCA Deputy Chairman – Membership, and a member of the Party’s National Membership and Asset Management committees.
In May 2019 I had the privilege of being elected as a Driffield & Rural Ward Councillor to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. I currently serve as Chairman of the Audit Committee and am a member of the Strategic Planning, Eastern Area Planning, Pensions and Children’s & Young People Overview & Scrutiny Committees. My main aim as a Ward Councillor is to see the people of Driffield and surrounding villages prosper into the future.
