I have served the residents of the Pocklington area for thirty years in the capacity as a local Town Councilor, where I became Mayor of the Town three times.
At the turn of the millennium I became involved in the Pocklington Art Centre campaign. The local Councillors took a lot of grief over the purchase of the site, we worked hard to make the project become a great success. My vision for the Arts Centre was to give the Town Centre a boost as the area looked tired, shops going into decline and just as important, the young had nowhere to be entertained near to where they lived. Now, there are restaurants, cafes and a variety of individual owned shops.
For the last fourteen years I have represented the Pocklington Provincial Ward as an East Riding Councillor. During this time, I have sat on most Committees and Scrutiny Committees which included Planning, Pensions and Environment and Regeneration Scrutiny Committee. I was honoured to be made Chairman of the County and had a wonderful year representing the Council at various events.
I was very proud to be elected to the office of Ward Councillor and have since tried to get the best for the area. At times it has been challenging but worthwhile.
This past year, during the pandemic, I have had to shield and work from home, attending meetings using the computer. My Council work has not stopped throughout the year and decisions have been made. I have helped many residents and Parish Councils with their concerns and problems, this I shall continue to do.
If any resident needs information, help, advice, please contact me on 07872123811 or via the East Riding website. I shall try to do my best to help.
Thank you.
