I was born and educated in Bridlington and have lived here all my life. In June of 2021 my wife and I were blessed with the arrival of our little boy, Ted. I’m also the proud father of Jonathan a Master Mariner and ships Captain.
EDUCATION
Burlington then Moorfield infant and junior schools followed by Headlands secondary school.
EARLY EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING
Hasler’s of Bridlington Electrical apprenticeship
After gaining my Electricians qualification I worked for various local firms before establishing my own business with a customer base that included our Foreign and Commonwealth office. With colleagues I completed many British Embassy projects on three continents.
POLITICAL CAREER
I first became interested in local politics whilst at school and quickly realised I was a Conservative, but it wasn’t till 2012 that I saw the opportunity to represent Bridlington North ward on Bridlington Town Council and entered the by-election process. To my amazement I was duly elected and served three and a half years, directly following I was re-elected in 2015 serving a further four years. During this second term my fellow councillors elected me Mayor of Bridlington and Chairman of Bridlington town council from 2015 to 2016
Following my seven and a half years as a Bridlington Town Councillor I entered the elections as a Conservative for a Bridlington South ward councillor on the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. To my delight the people supported me. There is nothing quite as humbling than to receive the support of your fellow residents and I threw myself into my new role with gusto. I enjoy ward work for my residents and that will always be my main priority, but a councillor has many roles and I also served on six committees, vice chairing two until I was selected to chair my own.
Currently my roles include
Chairman of Children and Young peoples overview and scrutiny committee
Chairman of Corporate Parenting committee
Chairman of Education appeals
Member of the Overview Management and scrutiny committee
Member of Eastern Area Planning committee
Substitute on the Strategic Planning committee
OUTSIDE BODIES
Member of the North Eastern Inshore Fisheries Conservation Authority committee
Chairman of the Parker Home trust (a charity providing small grants to talented Bridlington youths under 18)
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
To continue representing Bridlington and getting the best for its residents.
To continue Ward work
To encourage investment in our town and support tourism.
To back the regeneration of Bridlington and help meet aspirations.
To help individuals achieve their best potential
To protect the vulnerable
One of my greatest concerns is the future health and wellbeing of Bridlington residents, to help me keep me keep on top of local health care developments I became a member of the Bridlington Health Forum, anyone can join, and I would encourage all residents to enlist so they can voice their views. I also joined the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals Trust hoping to keep up to date with developments, this too is open to anyone.
I have been selected to represent Bridlington North for the upcoming May 2023 elections and I hope once more to gain the support of residents.
WHY SHOULD YOU VOTE FOR ME
I am an experienced Councillor with the training, the knowledge, the time, and the passion to make a difference. I pledge to give my all.
