East Riding of Yorkshire Council has just completed resurfacing Burnby
Lane between Pocklington and Burnby. The road, which is also the access
for the Pocklington Waste recycling site has recently been closed whilst
resurfacing works have taken place.
Wolds Weighton Ward Councillor Leo Hammond, who has long fought for
these works stated he was “delighted to 'finally see the road in good
shape.”
The Councillor went on to explain, “since being elected in 2019, my
primary aim has been to make sure our rural area gets the resources and
funding we need and deserve!”
“I spend most days lobbying highways for money to improve our highway
network, both in our villages and our town, Market Weighton.”
“These works have been a project I have been working on for over two
years, and I am very happy to see them now completed. This road serves
as a vital local link between Market Weighton, Pocklington and all the
villages in between, and serves many Wolds Weighton residents as the
access to one of our two tips.”
“It has been in a sorry state for far too long, and that is why I have been
determined since day one of being elected to get it fixed! I have now
done that.”
The Councillor finished by asking residents, if they have any more
highways issues they would like his help with, please contact him and he
will do all he can to help.
The road works have cost £380,000 and are another example of the
innovation ERYC highways are using to repair our roads in a sustainable
fashion. These works are better for the environment than traditional
works, as the method used recycles the old tarmac and lays it like new.
